Cuthbert’s Bones- A Durham mystery
About
Far from the prying eyes of adults, a trio of young adventurers embark on a secret journey of discovery through ancient, hidden, caves exposed by a freak tide. Here they unearth the solution to a mystery that has endured for centuries and find themselves in mortal danger. In the shadow of Britain’s favourite building, Durham Cathedral, and against the backdrop of a community, devastated by the aftermath of a bitter industrial dispute and the loss of its coal mine, our three young friends must endure, fear, dread and loss as they reach the climax of their perilous expedition. The former pit village of Danelaw on Durham’s rugged east coast has seen better days. Once a bustling mining community, the closure of its pit has left it and its population in an identity vacuum. A pit village with no pit, a community built on coal, but where coal has become a thing of the past, a population without purpose. In the midst of this, three teenage friends find evidence that will shake the foundations of the religious establishment of the region, calling into question a long-held belief about Durham Cathedral.
